Eavesdropping
Trees are the way we listen in on the conversation between cosmic energy and earthly matter.
The sun posed a question. I didn't quite catch it.
Something about hearing all motion as music. Something about galaxies stretching their joints after cramped quarters. Something about vastness as a love language.
Not all questions are made of words. Some are tides of heat and light. Some change the listener before they can answer.
The Earth took its time. Of course it did. A question as kind as sunlight deserves an answer as generous as trees.

Frequently Asked Questions

I currently reside in the Red River watershed on Treaty 1 Territory, ancestral and current lands of the Anishinaabe, Ininiwak, and Dakota Nations, and the homeland of the Red River Métis. I am grateful that I am welcomed as a guest in this place. I am generously nourished by the peoples, the animals, the land, the air, and the waters. Here is where I humbly strive to live in respect, gratitude, and honour of what has been shared with me.
My practice honours the Elm trees (ulmus) that stand in dignity amidst the changing landscape of the earth. These majestic trees in their vitality have soaring green canopies, powerful trunks, and in the winter reveal their intricate web of branches. They are threshold trees and have much to teach, if we stand with them and listen.
